What is the best bait to bring? No matter what time of year, squid and pilchards give the most consistent results.
Are there life jackets on board? Yes, one for every passenger including children's sizes
Is there a reduced rate for children? Due to the price of diesel we are not in a position to offer a discount for children.
How long will it take to come from: Thames: 1 hour Hamilton: 2 1/2 hours Sth Auckland: 2 1/2 hours
Where can we get salt ice? Thames wharf have salt ice, but may not be open prior to 6am or after 5pm.
What kind of weather would a trip be cancelled for? Both boats are well equipped to handle winds up to 40 knots.
What type of rigs are best? Ledger and flasher rigs work well also stray lines.
Can soft baits be used? Absolutely! Some very nice fish have been caught on soft baits.
What do you catch? The main species caught is snapper. King fish, trevally and John Dory can also be caught at varying times. The daily limit of snapper is 9 per person, per day. Due to the large number of mussel farms in the area, fishing is very good most of the year. However, during the frosty months of July and August, while the fish are spawning, results can be patchy.
